Tristan Perich is a contemporary composer from New York City who works magic with slow moving, deliberate, minimal electronics. Tristan is one of the featured artists of this year’s Fast Forward Austin music festival, taking place Saturday April 6th at the Scottish rite theater. Where the Meehan/Perkins Percussion duo will be premiering his new work, “Parallels.”
It was an absolute pleasure hearing Tristan talk about his artistic process of paring down compositions to their bare essentials, and the accessibility and physicality of using computer code to create music.
This interview was recorded the week before the FFA 2013 festival, on KVRX Austin (www.kvrx.org/), in between talk with FFA founders Ian Dicke, Steven Snowden, and Robert Honstein. Robert even joins in the conversation a little bit towards the end!
